A small beginning in Chiang Mai.
I found a shop selling wooden cats in a woodcarving village in Chiang Mai. That is where QuietCarve began.
A tilted head, an upright sitter, a cat in the middle of a stretch. Put them next to each other and the differences are easy to see. They remind me of the ordinary things cats do that somehow keep our attention.
The person behind the selection.
I choose existing pieces from the shop and bring them together as a small collection. The carving belongs to the people who make the objects; my role is to select them, show their details and make it easier to choose one for your home or for someone else.
A little figure can feel familiar before you have even found a place for it.
A growing collection.
Today the selection includes head-tilting cats, lounging cats, looking-back cats and raised-trunk elephants. Their names are ours, a way to remember the different poses.
What you can expect to see here.
Close looks at the pieces, notes from the selection process, and practical details about keeping and giving them. Wood grain and color vary, and sample photographs cannot show every possible marking.
We are still gathering the material and maker information for this first collection. You will see specific details when they have been confirmed.
